Description

Candlewick & Satin Christmas designs are a natural extension of the Candlewick &  Satin series.  They are a combination of candlewicking and satin stitch. Candlewicking resembles French knots done by hand, except when done by machine they do not come out.   I love the heirloom effect they give a design.

These designs are done mostly with Christmas colors: reds and greens, gold and silver. The various stitch styles provide texture.  There are so many projects for around the holidays, for your own home dec or to make holiday gifts for others.

As usual I supply designs in multiple sizes, not only for maximum creativity, but to accommodate those who are limited in their hoop sizes. Please review the design info sheets in the gallery for specific design info. This is a large set of designs with 125 total. One idea when stitching the Christmas angel is to make her harp strings from metallic silver thread.  Her gown and harp are beautiful.

There are also 5 Christmas messages in 4 different fonts. To accompany the Christmas messages are numeric designs for the year: 2023 thru 2027. Combining the Christmas message with the designated year can provide a memorable gift.

Did you know you can stitch holiday designs on card stock to create Christmas cards?  Try this:

  1. Decide  the size you want the card to be. If 5×7 you need a 10×7 piece of cardstock
  2. Fold the long side vertically so you then have a 5×7 square (doubled over).
  3. The front of the card should be to the right of the vertical fold. This leaves the inside (with the fold then to the left), to write a personal message. Be sure to unbend the fold before stitching the design on the intended front of the card.
  4. This may take some practice. You’ll need to slow your machine speed down.  I would try first with low stitch count designs.  You should try using a magnetic hoop to avoid bending the edges of the cardstock with a regular hoop, or roughing up the surface with adhesive products.
  5. I have such a huge collection of dulled embroidery needles; this is a great way to use them up.
  6. Sending a home-made card to a special recipient will be appreciated and this embroidered card can be framed by them to display with Christmas decor on subsequent holidays.
  7. OESD has this idea too and they offer 10-packs of the embroiderable cards (with envelopes to fit) in 2 sizes: OESD embroiderable cards
