Managing Your Embroidery Files

Because managing your embroidery files is so important, you may have recently seen this message at the top of all my design pages:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
I recently found that some of my design files on my laptop were corrupted. I’m unsure whether this corruption was caused by updates done by Windows, Norton, my embroidery software, or malware. Some of the affected designs are so corrupted they must be re-digitized. Because of this I am going through each design with a finetooth comb, and then locking my designs to prevent a recurrence. This process may also require me to do new test stitching to be sure they are up to my standards. I appreciate your patience with this process and will shortly begin to upload the design sets as I complete my work on each one. Please be aware if you purchase designs during this process, there may be a delay of up to 2 weeks until you receive them. Contact me on the contact form here with any questions. Thank you~

Since that discovery, I spent several hundred hours reviewing all my designs and redigitized some of them. I am now beginning to update all the design files for download. It’s a big job, I have over 1000 designs here. During the process I considered what could have corrupted my files-I do wonder about the above-mentioned updates. I value my Norton virus protection, but when it does a scan then informs me that it deleted 2400 broken registry keys, I have to wonder.
As I did this huge design review, I discovered something in my Bernina software that I had never noticed before: Raised Satin Outline Stitch. This may have been the source of what I perceived as corruption. It showed up in the outlines of some designs. I did not see a way to fix it by reverting to the double run outline I had intended. I did not know what this new outline style was, I had not selected it, did not recognize it, etc.
Speaking to tech support about this “corruption”, no one identified it as the raised satin outline stitch. What I perceived as corruption may have been an accidental change that happened in the design for an unknown reason. Because managing your embroidery designs is SO important, I mention this issue mostly to inform other digitizers. Maybe I can save another from the profound investment of time and the mental exercise of trying to figure out what was going on in my software/computer.
I will now always lock my original designs to prevent any future fun and games. It seems Wilcom software has added the “Lock” feature for a good reason! Next I’ll upload all the designs which have been deleted from my media library here. I appreciate the patience of my loyal customers during this tedious process.
My first efforts will be to feature my Celebrate America design set for the 250th birthday celebration of America. View this large collection to consider for your patriotic projects this year. https://anemone-embroidery.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CelebrateAmericaCollection.jpg
